BIDUR "Cross-border cooperation for the management of the Rivers Bidasoa and Urumea" (2009-2011)

In spring 2009, the BIDUR project, promoting cooperation between different entities involved in the management of the Rivers Bidasoa and Urumea, was launched to establish joint strategies to promote and protect the good condition of their bodies of water. The BIDUR project aimed to go one step further as far as sharing actions to manage the treatment of river water in the cross-border basin of the Bidasoa and the transregional basin of the Urumea was concerned through joint coordinated strategies adopted by the public bodies involved in integrated water management on the two sides of the Pyrenees.

SUD´EAU, 'Local and Participatory Water Management and the rivers of Southwest Europe' (2009-2011)

The SUD’EAU project focuses on improvement and sustainability in order to protect and conserve the environment and natural landscape of Southwest Europe. SUD´EAU is based on the chief considerations and axes of the Water Framework Directive. The project aims to implement experiences of reference at local level capable of becoming best practice benchmarks for sustainable water management. These experiences will be implemented within the framework of participatory processes that facilitate collective learning regarding the application of sustainable management measures in a way that can be transferred to other European regions.
